Catherine (Katie) is proud to have been part of the nursing profession in a variety of roles since 1990. She attended nursing school at Avila College where she also played volleyball for 2 years before starting her clinical rotations. Katie graduated in 1994 with her BSN and as a member of Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nursing. She gained experience in a variety of specialties including intensive care, hospice, wellness and cardiology. After 20+ years of nursing experience she went on to earn her MSN from Research College of Nursing, graduating in 2016, while earning the Dean’s Award for Academic Achievement. She is board certified as an Adult-Gerontology Nurse Practitioner, treating patients beginning at age 13. Katie’s personal philosophy on patient care is centered on the importance of shared decision making with her patients when it comes to treatment choices, and including the patient in creating a treatment plan.

Katie’s family is central to her life. She and her husband PJ have 3 children. She has maintained a very active personal life as well, participating in triathlons, marathons, half marathons, and the MS 150 bike ride. She enjoys being an active member of her church and her children’s schools, be it coaching track or volleyball or serving in many volunteer activities.
